I tried to post this article last week, but I’ve been kind of busy lately. This time a short story. Where was I…Oh yeah! On the second day we went to the incredibly spectacular Boqueria market on Las Ramblas. It’s the biggest food market of Spain and one of the largest markets in the world. The wide range of fruits, vegetables, fish, meat and cheese is spanned by a beautiful 19th-century cast-iron canopy. The entrance is free and once you’re inside you don’t know where to start. OMG the food and drinks looked soooooo freakin good. Luckely you can enjoy the market almost every day, because it’s open on Monday till Saturday from 8:00 to 20:30 hours and its free entrance!
After visiting the market, it was time to shop the rest of the day! YES you guessed it, shop till we dropped. Barcelona is a shopper’s paradise; yes you can shop really well. You’ll find lots of stores, malls and shops in Barcelona. Generally most shops are open until 20:00. But they’re always closed on Sundays (except during the Christmas period). Small and family businesses close their doors between 2.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m., because of the siesta. But the department stores, shopping malls and most shops in the centre are open continuously WOOHOO!
You can find the best boutiques and shops in El Born en Gràcia. For the big fashion chains you can go to Portal de l’Àngel and Passeig de Gràcia for expensive brands. If you like vintage, then go to El Raval and for outlets go to Heron City en Carrer Girona.
During shopping we lunched at El Cercle. This restaurant is established in a beautiful building with a large balcony where you can eat. The sandwhiches were delicious! After lunch, shopping continued…
Diner @ Hard Rock Cafe
The people in Barcelona eat late and long around 10.00 p.m. So we went at 9.30 p.m. to Hard Rock Café, it’s a 2-minute-walk from our hotel. It was very busy, so we got a beeper with a number on it. When it went off, we got a table. In the meanwhile, we drank some cocktails, mojito and banana berry colada at the bar YUMMY. We waited like an hour, but it was worth it, because the food was OUTSTANDING!
The next day we went back. It was time to go to the airport with the Aerobus. We really enjoyed our trip. It was an adventurous city trip. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see everything, but the more reason to go back right?! For now, byeeeeeee Barcelona, until next time!
